Purchase information

All my prints are printed onto Fujicolor Crystal Archive Paper (a light sensitive paper), by a professional laboratory using the latest photo-digital laser printers, giving an archival life of 60 years. The resulting prints are true photographic prints of superb quality, with excellent tonal range, exceptional colour density and stability, and pin-sharp detail.

Prints are available on gloss or satin matt paper surface, with no difference in price between the two. They are available either un-mounted, or mounted. In the case of the latter, they are mounted using either a white or cream conservation grade mount, depending on, and to compliment, the colours within the image. The approximate mounted size is shown below against the corresponding print size. If, however, you have any specific requests concerning the colour or finished size of your mounted print, then please do not hesitate to contact me before placing your order.

Choice of frame is both subjective and dependent on personal preference, and as such I do not provide a framing service. I may, however, look at providing such a service in the future, using a small selection of high quality wood frames. This is dependent on whether there appears to be sufficient demand for me to organise the framing of a customer’s selected print, so that it is ready to hang when you receive your order.

If you are intending to make a purchase, the following points should be noted:-

1. The archival Fuji Crystal Archival Paper has been developed using the latest technology to slow down the ageing of prints, thus ensuring a longer lasting colour and sharpness. Research by Fuji puts this around 60 years if displayed correctly, i.e. away from direct sunlight, sources of heat and moisture. It also goes without saying that you should use a professional framing business to best present and preserve your print.

2. The colours and contrast of an image may vary from those viewed on this website depending on the calibration and type of your computer monitor, and bearing in mind that the images shown here are low-resolution scans of extremely high quality original transparencies. Consequently the finished print will always be of a higher quality in terms of colour accuracy, contrast, brightness and sharpness, than can be represented via the internet. Image quality, unfortunately, needs to be sacrificed to enable ease of viewing online.

3. Prints are supplied without a border.

4. Photographic print sizes are derived from 35mm full frame film format, where the ratio (width to height) is 3:2. In the case of A5, A4 and A3 prints, some cropping of the image is necessary due to these sizes being a different (higher) ratio. Therefore the resultant print from the image as viewed on this website, may be cropped very slightly.

5. Mounts are conservation quality window/aperture mounts, where a bevel-edged window is cut from the middle of the mounting board, and the print then attached to the back using archive quality tape. The ‘to fit picture’ window will give a slight overlap of the print – approximately 5mm on each side – so that your picture doesn’t fall through the window! An acid free backing board is then attached to the back to protect the mounted print.

6. Richard Moran Photography is not a VAT registered business.
